description: | This image scanned from page 494 of the 1959 Arbutus yearbook. This building is located on the southwest corner of Third Street and College Avenue. The business later became Tom O'Daniel Ford. Today (2021) the building is the Bloomington Convention Center. In its earlier days the building was also saw the assembly of new vehicles as well. Two June 2021 remembrances on Facebook said of the building: “Partial assembly, not full. They would receive the frames and bodies as separate units and assemble on site." And, "There was a RR spur at the back of the building and a big I-beam with a hoist on it. The car parts came in crates and they would hoist them to the upper level, assemble them and then drive them down the ramp." |
